2017 Chicago Styled Shoot with Miss Motley Photography + Nicole Marie Events

March 31 | Great Gatsby Inspired Wedding & Rehearsal Dinner | 1:00pm - 6:00pm

Location: Private Residence in Hyde Park - Chicago, IL

Nicee Martin of Miss Motley Photography + Nicole Pittmon of Nicole Marie Events are teaming up to create a phenomenal styled shoot here in Chicago for new and seasoned photographers alike. This styled shoot allows photographers, like you, to capture luxurious details & portraits without the stress of an actual wedding day. Here, you'll be able to practice finding your own creative photographic voice, or just capture some fresh images for your website or for marketing purposes. It also provides you with an opportunity to network with other fellow creatives here in the Chicagoland area.

The color palate that has been selected for this Great Gatsby inspired shoot is black and gold, with white accents. The styled shoot will take place in an elegant Victorian private residence on Chicago's Southside. With its 20-foot cathedral ceilings, Juliet balconies, chandeliers, polished Grand Piano, and open spiral staircase, this venue is sure to provide the perfect backdrop for our elegant styled shoot.

Welcome to the New & Improved Blog!

The last two years have flown by sooooooooo quickly and I've been busy, REAL busy. Starting out in 2011, I didn't have a clear vision of what Miss Motley Photography would bring to a world overflowing with creative photographers (both professional & amateur). As a new business, I did the only thing I knew to do, what everyone else was doing. I shot everything, meticulously edited everything and devoted hours to little things that were not helping my business grow. I was working 2-3 jobs at a time and devoting my "leftover time" to my business. I was not fully giving it all of me. I was serving everyone else's needs over my own and stifling my and my businesses growth. And more than anything, I always had a feeling in the pit of my gut that by offering what every other photographer offered, I was not servicing my clients to the fullest.

In 2014, I started doing some soul searching; I started asking myself the difficult questions. Why should I devote my time to taking photos? Why is this important? How does this enrich the world around me? What makes my work different from others? Over these last two years as I have watched my clients weep during their viewing appointments I've come to realize something very important. What I have the opportunity to do with each session is to shine a light on my client's greatest blessings: their loved ones. In the midst of the busyness, the storms, and the difficulties that life brings, I am able to freeze time and capture the essence of their love and affection for one another and to help them remember just how blessed and fortunate they are to have one another--- and that is powerful.

It was with that new found understanding and purpose, that I completely revamped Miss Motley Photography. I've taken the time to grow, develop and hone my craft and my business knowledge so I can provide my clients with a more personalized experience. I've moved beyond just taking "pretty pictures". I now strive to create portraits that are clean. fresh. and moving. I want viewers to feel connected with the stories that I am telling through the images displayed. That is what I'm seeking to share with the world and what I seek to accomplish here on this blog.
